Woman commits suicide along with her five daughters in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, June 10 (PTI) A woman and her five daughters committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district.

Megha Tembhurkar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Mahasamund district said that Uma Sahu (45 years), her daughter Annapurna (18 years), Yashoda (16 years), Bhumika (14 years) last night between Mahasamund and Belsonda railway crossing in the district. ), Kumkum (12 years) and Tulsi (10 years) committed suicide by jumping in front of the train.

Tembhurkar said that when the police got information about the incident on Thursday morning, a police team was sent to the spot and the bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem.

He said that the police have received information that the Sahu family is a resident of Bemcha village in the district. In the night, when the woman had a dispute with her husband, she left the place with her children. Later their bodies were found on the railway tracks.

The police officer said that according to the information received so far, the woman has taken this step after a dispute with her husband. However, correct information in this regard will be available only after investigation. The police have not received any letter from the spot.

He said that the police have registered a case and the matter is being investigated.
