Uttarakhand Forest Department approves seven ecotourism proposals worth Rs 79.83 lakh

Dehradun, Jun 10 (PTI) The Uttarakhand Forest Department on Thursday approved seven proposals related to ecotourism and sanctioned Rs 79.83 lakh for them.

In the meeting of Ecotourism Core Committee chaired by Chief Conservator of Forests Rajeev Bharatari, while approving these proposals as per the announcements of the Chief Minister, the concerned Divisional Forest Officers were directed to complete them expeditiously.

The approved proposals include construction of a park by the Forest Department near Kumaoni Temple in Chandrabani Khalsa at a cost of Rs 15.83 lakh, construction of a trek route up to Kyari Nagtibba Surkanda at a cost of Rs 10 lakh, Phanto of Terai Western Forest Division at a cost of Rs 15 lakh. The area includes construction of a safari zone and beautification of Sanjay Lake in Rishikesh to develop it as an adventure tourism destination at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.

Dr Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Member Secretary, Ecotourism Core Committee informed that this amount is being released to the Divisional Forest Officers and they have been asked to complete these works expeditiously.
