Two lioness and a lion from Anna Zoological Park Chennai in Tamil Nadu have been found corona infected. This has been confirmed in a sample test conducted at the Indian Veterinary and Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. IVRI has sent its report to Anna Zoological Park, Chennai.
four tigers found negative
Samples of two lioness, one lion and four tigers were sent from Anna Zoological Park, Chennai to IVRI for examination. Here all these samples were tested in the lab. According to Dr. KP Singh, Joint Director of IVRI, two lioness and one lion were found positive, while the symptoms of corona have not been found in all the four tigers.
Lions have also been found positive in Jaipur Zoo and Lion Safari Etawah
Earlier, in the investigation conducted at IVRI, corona infection was found in a lion from Jaipur Zoo and a lioness from Lion Safari in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. Prior to that, corona infection was found in eight lions of Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad.
