Southampton, 9 June : Team India has started group training for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC Final 2021). Team India arrives in England on June 3. The final between India and New Zealand will be played in Southampton from June 18 to 22. Team India was earlier in isolation. Players can now practice in small groups. Under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, Team India has a chance to win its first ICC Championship title this year.
Team India captain Virat Kohli has shared a photo with Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara on social media. He captioned the photo, “The sun makes you smile.” It had been raining for the past few days in Southampton. For the first time, India and New Zealand will play a Test match at a neutral venue.
Shubhaman Gill had a good performance in the series against Australia. He is likely to be included in the team based on that performance. He had failed in the series against England. Now, if given a chance in the final, it will be Gill’s attempt to erase this failure. Cheteshwar Pujara is the mainstay of Team India’s batting. But he has failed to score a century for a long time.
June 23 is the reserve day for the final of the World Test Championship. If the five-day game is not over, the game will be played on this day. However, the final decision will be taken by the match referee. If the final match is drawn or tied, both teams will be declared joint winners. To date, only India and Sri Lanka have been declared joint winners of the Champions Trophy in 2002.
