It is noteworthy that the IT company Infosys has been given the responsibility of designing and maintaining the new e-filing website of the Income Tax Department. Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted, “The much awaited e-filing portal 2.0 was launched last night at 8.45pm. But there are many flaws and complaints are being received in it. Hope Infosys and Nandan Nilekani will not disappoint about the quality of services being provided to the income tax payers. Ease of compliance for taxpayers is our priority.”

Infosys was awarded the contract in 2019 to develop the next generation income tax filing system to reduce the processing time for returns from 63 days to one day and expedite refunds.
Special features of the new website-
1- This is a completely new portal which makes e-filing easy for you. “The objective of this portal is to provide a single window for income tax related services to the taxpayers and the concerned parties,” it said.
2- The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), which has made policies for the Income Tax Department, had said on Saturday that the new e-filing website will be launched on Monday, although facilities like online tax payment system and mobile app will be started only on June 18. .
3- In the new portal, the processing of Income Tax Return (ITR) will be done immediately and refund will also be issued to the taxpayers soon. In this, necessary instructions for taxpayers and information about their pending cases will also be available.
4-Software has also been included with answers to questions etc. to help taxpayers to fill ITR 1, 4 (online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline). The department has said in a statement issued in this regard that the facilities for ITR 3, 5, 6 and 7 will also be made available soon.
