Paris : French President Emmanuel Macron has been slapped by a man. The man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. Two days earlier, a man had slapped President Macron.

President Emmanuel Macron was on a tour of southern France. The incident took place in the town of Tan El Hermitz. The video of the incident went viral on social media. While on his tour, Macron went to shake hands with those present, but was slapped by a man. After the man was slapped by President Macron, his security team immediately arrested the man and took Macron away.

The video shows Isma, wearing a green T-shirt and a mask, raising his hand in front of the President. He slapped them as they approached President Emmanuel Macron. Macron’s security has been beefed up following the incident.

Expressing his displeasure over the incident, Prime Minister Jean Costex told the French parliament that democracy had been targeted by the country’s leaders. Democracy has room for discussion, criticism, debate, ideological differences. But there is no place for violence in a democracy.
