New Delhi. The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to stay the release of the film ‘Nyay: The Justice’. The film is reportedly based on the life of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The film is scheduled to release this Friday. Justice Sanjeev Narula dismissed the petition filed by Rajput’s father Krishan Kishore Singh. Singh had requested a ban on the use of his son’s name or any likeness in films.
Father had appealed to the court to put a roll on the film
A single bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula passed the order in an application by the actor’s father seeking interim injunction against the release of the upcoming film. The Delhi High Court was told on Wednesday that “Nyay: The Justice” does not portray Sushant’s caricature, name or likeness as it is not a biopic on him.
The film’s producer and director, which was to release on June 11, presented their explanation in the court. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, Justice Sanjeev Narula reserved the verdict in the matter and asked the producers and director of the film not to release the film. Until the court gives its verdict.

Films on Sushant’s life are being made under many different names.
According to the petition filed by Rajput’s father – Krishan Kishore Singh – some upcoming or proposed film projects based on his son’s life are – “Nyay: Nyay”, “Suicide or Murder: A Star Lost”, “Shashank,” and more. Many types of films are being made about the life of Sushant Singh Rajput. Sushant’s father filed a petition in the court to ban these films.
Rajput’s father has argued that the filmmakers are taking advantage of the situation for commercial gain and hence, the right to freedom of speech and expression will not apply to him.
Filmmakers of upcoming and proposed films have opposed Rajput’s father’s pleas.
