Tamil Nadu exempted from NEET, common entrance examinations, admission should be done on the basis of 12th marks: AIADMK

Chennai, Jun 10 (PTI) Emphasizing on giving admission in Tamil Nadu to other courses, including medical, on the basis of 12th marks this year in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state’s opposition party AIADMK on Thursday appealed to the central government that NEET The state should be exempted from other common entrance examinations.

AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam said that a committee should be constituted to fix the criteria for admission to college courses and the same should fix the marks for it.

A copy of a letter written by him to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been shared with the media. Citing the education quality of the state in this, he said that in the report of 2019-20 published by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Tamil Nadu has got more than 90 percent marks in the performance grading index of the states and union territories. That is A plus plus grade and it ranks first along with four other states. The index was released on the basis of a test of 70 points.

He said that in such a situation, he is of the view that there is no need to test the ability of a student for admission in all professional and medical including other courses through entrance examinations.
