Surjewala condemns Haryana government’s new tubewell connection policy

Chandigarh, Jun 8 (PTI) Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala on Tuesday slammed the Haryana government’s new tubewell connection policy and alleged that it was not aimed at providing new connections to the farmers of the state.

Surjewala alleged that under the policy announced on May 1, a “ban” has been imposed on issuing new tubewell connections to the farmers of land falling in the ‘canal command area’, which would adversely affect the farmers of northern and southern Haryana. .

He also condemned the imposition of a “complete ban” on the release of tubewell connections of more than 30 BHP capacity and said it would harm the farmers of southern Haryana, where the water level was already very deep.

Surjewala alleged that the government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has not implemented “anti-farmer policies” for the first time. He demanded that the state government should withdraw the new policy.
