Shubhendu Adhikari meets PM Modi, discusses the political situation in Bengal

West Bengal Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and B J P MLA Shubhendu Adhikari Prime Minister on Wednesday Narendra Modi and discussed political issues related to the state during this time. He said, “The Chief Minister of West Bengal should also take care of the dignity of the Constitution. So far 42 workers have died in the post-poll violence. We are committed to protect BJP workers. The officer later also met Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. After meeting Tomar, the official tweeted, “Discussed with Agriculture Minister on widespread corruption in MGNREGA in Bengal. He has assured appropriate action on my complaints.” After becoming the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, the officer met top BJP leaders, including the Prime Minister, here for the first time. Adhikari was a minister in the previous West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee, but joined the BJP just ahead of the assembly elections in the state this year. Significantly, the Trinamool leader was angered by the presence of the officer in the meeting between Modi and Mamata to review the damage caused by cyclonic storm ‘Yas’. A few days later, officials are meeting top BJP leaders. According to sources, Mamta Banerjee had reached the said meeting late and left after giving a report regarding the damage of the cyclone.
