Rural ponds, other water bodies will be revived in Uttarakhand: Chief Minister

Dehradun, Jun 5 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat on Saturday said that ponds and other water bodies in rural areas of the state will be rejuvenated within a year and from the next financial year to focus on issues related to climate change. Climate budget allocation will be initiated. Rawat planted saplings at his Bhagirathipuram residence on GMS Road here on the occasion of World Environment Day and appealed to all to plant saplings to contribute to environmental protection. Dehradun, Jun 5 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat on Saturday said that ponds and other water bodies in rural areas of the state will be rejuvenated within a year and from the next financial year to focus on issues related to climate change. Climate budget allocation will be initiated.

Rawat planted saplings at his Bhagirathipuram residence on GMS Road here on the occasion of World Environment Day and appealed to all to plant saplings to contribute to environmental protection.

The Chief Minister said that all the water bodies in the rural areas recorded in the revenue records would be revived within a year and climate budget allocation would be started from 2022-23 to mainstream the works related to climate change.

He said, “Environmental protection is essential for our lives and everyone has a shared responsibility.”

Rawat said, “The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is to save the ecosystem and we all should contribute in this direction by planting saplings.”
