Punjab will give second dose of Kovishield after 28 days to people going abroad: Minister

Chandigarh, Jun 8 (PTI) Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Tuesday said that the second dose will be given after a gap of 28 days from the first dose of Kovishield to those who need to travel abroad for special reasons.

Sidhu said that the competent authority designated by the district administration would conduct the test before allowing the second dose before the stipulated interval of 84 days.

He said that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has recommended providing vaccines to such people who had taken the first dose 28 days back.

Sidhu said in a statement here that instructions have been issued to all the Deputy Commissioners for further action in this regard so that maximum number of beneficiaries can be vaccinated.
