The Punjab Police has arrested a Punjabi singer and three of his friends for breaking the night curfew enforced due to coronavirus by celebrating his birthday with a ‘band-baje’. Satnampura police station in-charge (SHO) Darshan Singh identified the arrested people as singer Imran Khan, also known as Khan Sahib, and his friends Harpreet Singh, Dilbagh Mohammad and Ejaz.
The SHO said that a video of a birthday party organized on the intervening night of June 7-8 has gone viral on social media. After this a case has been registered under their Disaster Management Act. He said that Khan’s birthday was celebrated at his Preetnagar residence which was attended by a large number of his friends and the feast lasted till 1 pm.
Case filed against 25 more people
Police said that about 20-25 more unidentified people, including the bandwagon, have also been booked in this connection and they are being identified after watching the video. The SHO said that the singer and his three friends were later released on bail. It is worth noting that due to the Corona epidemic, night curfew has been going on in Punjab for a long time.
