Punjab News: Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim gets corona, serving 20 years imprisonment

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh (53) has been found corona positive. Three days ago, the jail administration took him to Rohtak PGI for checkup. Singh, lodged in Sunaria jail, had complained of stomach ache. During the investigation, he was confirmed to be corona. The Dera chief has been lodged in Sunaria jail since 2017 in connection with the rape of two of his female followers. He was sentenced to 20 years in jail by a special CBI court in Panchkula.

On June 3, Ram Rahim Singh was taken to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences from Rohtak’s Sunaria jail under heavy police protection, officials said. He said that the Dera chief had some tests, including a CT scan of his abdomen. He was later sent back to jail. Singh was admitted to the PGI three weeks ago after he complained of dizziness and fluctuating blood pressure. At that time the Dera chief was discharged after being kept overnight in the hospital.

Singh was discharged from the hospital after a seven-member board of doctors found him stable. After this, after his health deteriorated again, he was examined in the hospital in which his report turned out to be Corona positive. Let us tell you that a few days ago the Dera chief had applied for parole to meet his ailing mother.
