Poor families in Chhattisgarh will get free rice from July to November

Raipur, Jun 8 (PTI) The Chhattisgarh government has decided to provide free rice to the poor families of the state from July to November.

State Public Relations Department officials said here on Tuesday that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced to provide free rice from July to November to the poor families of the state due to the corona virus epidemic.

Officials said that all the BPL ration card holders of the state would be given rice for five months free of cost from July to November. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also announced to give additional rice equivalent to PM Garib Kalyan Yojana to all ration cards issued under the State Food Security Act.

He said that with this announcement of the Chief Minister, two crore 51 lakh 46 thousand 424 members of 67 lakh 90 thousand 987 ration card holder families of the state would be benefitted.

Officials said that in order to provide relief to the poor and needy families of the state, rice has been distributed free of cost in the months of May and June under the Public Distribution System.

He said that today’s announcement of the Chief Minister will benefit the Antyodaya ration card, priority ration card, Annapurna ration card and ration card holders issued to destitute and handicapped. Along with this, all ration card holders issued under the State Food Security Act will also be provided additional rice equivalent to PM Garib Kalyan Yojana.
