He said investigators are trying to ascertain the reason behind Pandit’s regular visits to Tral over the last one and a half years.

The official said investigators do not suspect any malpractices by the personal security guards of the deceased leader as they were not even aware of Pandit’s presence in Kashmir, let alone Tral.

“He (Pandit) told the PSO over phone that he is still in Jammu,” the official said.

It is noteworthy that on June 2, a BJP councilor Pandit was shot dead by terrorists of the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed in Tral area of ​​Pulwama and a woman accompanying him was injured.

So far 20 people have been questioned in connection with Pandit’s murder but no formal arrest has been made so far, the official said.

He said investigators also want to question the 22-year-old woman, who was injured in the firing by the terrorists, but will have to wait till the woman comes out of the hospital.

“We are probing all aspects and all those connected with the deceased are being investigated. Even the family who hosted the deceased on the day of the incident is being questioned,” the official said.
