Noida: Two accused of carrying out about 100 robbery incidents arrested during police encounter

Noida, Jun 5 (PTI) Two accused, alleged to have carried out around 100 robberies in the National Capital Region (NCR), were arrested by the Gautam Budh Nagar police during an encounter late on Saturday night. Both the accused in the encounter have been injured and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankur Aggarwal said that the police station Bisrakh was investigating near Roja village late on Saturday night, when two people on a motorcycle were seen coming.

Aggarwal said that when the police signaled him to stop, instead of stopping, he tried to run away by firing at the police, but in retaliatory firing by the police, the bullet hit the leg of both the accused and they have been arrested.

According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, the arrested accused have been identified as Najakat and Ashraf, residents of Loni, Ghaziabad. A stolen motorcycle, two country-made pistols, cartridges and four mobile phones looted from different places have been recovered from them.

He said that during interrogation it has come to light that both the accused have committed more than 100 robbery incidents in Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi and dozens of cases are registered in different police stations of NCR. He has already been arrested in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Noida.
