No need of NOC for educational institutions running in buildings less than 9 meters high: Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Jun 6 (PTI) The Gujarat government on Sunday said that educational institutions in the state which are running in buildings with a height of up to nine meters and not having a ground floor, now need to obtain a mandatory fire safety no-objection certificate from the local authorities. No, but they will have to provide self-attested documents.

According to an official statement issued here, such educational institutions will have to produce self-attested fire no-objection certificates (NOCs) and ensure that they have installed fire protection systems as per the prescribed norms.

This decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

According to the statement, the self-attested fire NOC will have to be produced by the concerned city education department official.

Also, the government has decided to set up six new fire stations in Gujarat to expand the fire service in the state. A senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service will act as the fire officer for these areas.

Significantly, this decision of the government has come a day after the Gujarat High Court had pulled up the government for fire safety in buildings and establishments.
