The temple committee and the district administration jointly decided to close the temple to avoid the crowd gathering at the fair to be held here on June 15 in view of the threat of corona.
This temple falls on the way from Nainital to Almora. Last year also the temple gates were closed due to Kovid.
Temple manager Vinod Joshi told that before the fair, the number of devotees visiting the temple daily was increasing and in such a situation the risk of Kovid was also increasing.
Joshi said that the gates of the temple have been closed indefinitely for the devotees and the biggest service during this time is to stay at home.
Sub Collector Vinod Kumar said that this decision is necessary to prevent the spread of corona infection.
The fair held in the temple holds a special place for the devotees.
Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj built a Hanuman temple here in 1964 and since then a fair is held every year around the temple.
Thousands of devotees from the country and abroad come to participate in this fair and on 15th June their number exceeds one lakh.
Pradeep Sah Bhaiyu of the temple committee said that the preparations for the fair start two months in advance.
