Maximum temperature reaches 42.7 degree Celsius in Jammu, the hottest day of the season

Jammu, Jun 9 (PTI) Jammu on Wednesday was the hottest day of the season with the temperature settling at 42.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. An official of the Meteorological Department gave this information.

Officials said the minimum temperature in Jammu was 29.7 degrees Celsius, five degrees Celsius above the season’s average. Most parts of Jammu and Kashmir have been experiencing scorching heat for the past one week.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, “Sporadic rain is expected on June 11 and 12, while widespread rain is expected on June 13.

Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi temple in Reasi district, was the second hottest place in Jammu and Kashmir with a maximum temperature of 39.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27.4 degrees Celsius, the official said.
