Lightning killed 27 people in West Bengal, maximum damage in Hooghly and Murshidabad

A total of 27 people have lost their lives due to lightning strikes in different districts of West Bengal. The maximum damage occurred in the areas of Murshidabad and Hooghly. 9 people lost their lives in Murshidabad and 11 in Hooghly. Apart from this, 2 people each died in West Midnapore, East Midnapore and Bankura. At the same time, one person has died in Nadia district. Three women were also among those who died.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah have expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased. Apart from this, the government has also announced compensation. Modi tweeted, ‘My condolences to the families and relatives of those who died due to lightning in West Bengal. I wish the injured people a speedy recovery.

Announcement of compensation of Rs 2 lakh
At the same time, the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted and said, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF for the families of those who died due to lightning in different parts of West Bengal. The injured will be given Rs 50,000. At the same time, the Mamta government of the state has also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the family of the deceased.
