Pawar, while interacting with citizens during a Facebook Live session, said his government wants the Center to take the route of Parliament to ensure reservation in jobs and education to the Maratha community in the state, and while doing so see that other communities Equal benefits should not be affected.
Pawar said, “NCP, Shiv Sena and Congress formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi government under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to solve the issues of the people, for all-round development as well as to create an environment in which every section of the society has faith. Yes, this government is his. However, soon after the formation of the government, the Kovid-19 crisis arose before us.
He said that the last 14 months have gone into dealing with this pandemic which has resulted in loss of jobs and severe financial crunch in implementing some decisions.
Pawar said that though the state government has made all efforts to improve the health care system, including increasing stock of medicines, increasing the number of ventilator beds and ensuring maximum dose of vaccine to Maharashtra.
Pawar said, “Since production has been scaled up by vaccine companies, we aim to vaccinate most of the people in Maharashtra by the end of August.”
Asked on the issue of Maratha reservation, Pawar said eminent lawyers were engaged to defend the state’s stand in the Supreme Court. It is noteworthy that on May 5, the apex court quashed the law providing reservation to the Maratha community in the state.
“A delegation led by the Chief Minister met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and we (Centre) requested him to take a decision in Parliament to give reservation to the Maratha community without touching the reservations of other communities,” the NCP leader said. ‘
He hit out at the opposition for trying to “incite the community” for political gains and said the MVA government was committed to providing reservation to the Maratha community without touching the benefits of other groups.
