Khattar directs soil test of 25 lakh acres of land

Chandigarh, June 9 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday directed officials to conduct soil testing of 25 lakh acres of land on priority basis during the current financial year. He said that after checking the agricultural land, soil health cards should be issued to the farmers so that farmers can avoid unnecessary use of fertilizers.

During the review meeting related to the Soil Health Card scheme, he said, “This will not only increase the fertility of the land, but it will also be beneficial for the farmers.”

According to a government statement, Khattar directed to complete the work of soil testing of 75 lakh acres of agricultural land in the state in three years. He said that under this scheme, college and senior secondary school students would be engaged in the work of taking samples and testing them in their laboratory.
