Karnataka: 31st Oxygen Express train carrying 113.96 tonnes of oxygen reaches Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jun 11 (PTI) The 31st Oxygen Express train has reached Bengaluru carrying 113.96 tonnes of therapeutic liquid oxygen (LMO) for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Karnataka. South Western Railway said on Friday that this oxygen has been delivered in six cryogenic containers.

According to the Railways, so far 3,563.15 tonnes of LMO has been supplied to Karnataka by train.

South Western Railway said in a statement, “The 31st Oxygen Express train arrived at Inland Container Depot at Whitefield, Bengaluru at 6 am today. This train had left from Kanalus in Jamnagar, Gujarat at 2 am on June 9.

Significantly, Indian Railways has so far operated more than 400 Oxygen Expresses, contributing to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. By these special trains, 28,473 tonnes of oxygen has been transported in 1648 tankers to different parts of the country.
