After the death of a five-year-old girl in Rajasthan’s Jalore district due to dehydration, now the National Commission for Women (NCW) and the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights have taken cognizance of the whole matter. It is noteworthy that on Sunday, the girl Manju was going out in the scorching sun with her 60-year-old grandmother Sukhi in Raniwara of Jalore district, when the thirsty girl died. Grandmother’s treatment is going on in the district hospital. After the death of the father, the mother left the child. So grandmother was taking care of him. The death of the child also prompted the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (RSCPCR) to write a letter to the district administration to provide necessary assistance to the family. NCW President Rekha Sharma called it a serious situation and asked the government to provide medical aid as well as compensation to the family of the old woman and the minor. In its letter, the commission has urged CM Gehlot for personal intervention. Also in this letter it is written that “This unfortunate incident and painful news raises serious concern and doubts about the failure of the state government that the government is not able to provide even the basic necessities like water to its people. District Collector said – report sent to the commission
Jalore District Collector Namrata Vrishni told TOI, “The old lady and the girl used to live alone in the village of Jalore. He was going to a relative’s place when this incident happened. We got a call but by the time they were taken to the hospital, the girl was already dead. Grandmother’s treatment is going on.” On the other hand, Collector Vrishni says about the letter of the Children’s Commission that Collector Namrata Vrishni told that the report has been sent.
