The books of Gita Press, which are included in the heritage of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, have a different identity at the global level. In view of the increasing demand for ‘Srimad Bhagwat Geeta’ and ‘Ramcharitmanas’ to be read at home, the GitaPress management has decided to print ‘Gita’ and ‘Ramcharitmanas’ illustrated on the drawing sheet. In this regard, thousands of copies of Shrimad Bhagvat Geeta printed in the first phase were sold within a month. Now preparations are on to print Ramcharitmanas on the drawing sheet.
Three and a half thousand copies of Gita were sold in a month… In April, on the demand of readers, Shrimad Bhagvat Gita was published with 129 pictures on a drawing sheet. During this, about three and a half thousand copies of ‘Srimad Bhagvat Gita’ were sold in just one month. Even after this, seeing the continuous order, the Gita Press Manager has ordered the printing of more copies of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita in English and Gujarati language including Hindi, so that the demand of the readers can be fulfilled.
Earlier, the printing of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta and Ramcharitmanas was done on ordinary paper and two photos were attached separately in the middle of the book. Books worth more than 24 crores were sold last year GitaPress has 20 centers across India. From April to December last year, sales from all these centers were above about Rs 24 crore. In this Narada Purana, Illustrated Hanuman Chalisa, Matsya Purana, Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Ramcharit Manas, Upanishads were in high demand.
The administrator of Gorakhpur Geeta Press, Narendra Ledia said that in view of the demand of Geeta in lockdown, for the first time, Geeta was published with pictures on the drawing sheet, people have liked the illustrated Geeta very much, after which now Ramcharit Manas is also published in a thick sheet. Planning is underway, will be started soon.
