Gehlot also said that in every criminal case, the police investigation should be done with complete impartiality and transparency. He said that no injustice should be done to any innocent and victimless person and only with fair and prompt action, the credibility of the police department will be raised.
Gehlot reviewed the law and order through video conference. The Chief Minister said that the positive role played by the Police Department in implementing the lockdown effectively at the ground level during the first and second wave of Corona virus created a better image among the general public and it instilled confidence in the police. He said that this image of the police should be maintained in future also.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has taken several important policy decisions to control crime and improve law and order. He said that the important decisions taken in the direction of strengthening and modernization of the police department along with construction of reception rooms for hearing the complaints in a proper atmosphere in the police stations and registration of mandatory FIRs have been appreciated all over the country. He said that the work of setting up reception rooms in all the police stations of the state should be speeded up.
Gehlot said that the police should investigate with a human perspective in providing justice to the weaker sections of the society including women, children, elderly, scheduled castes, tribes, minorities. He said that by conducting fair investigation in sensitive cases, strict action should be taken against the culprits so that the image of the police is improved among the people.
Gehlot directed for strict action against various types of mafia and organized criminals. He said that in the name of mining, land mafia, smuggling of narcotics and arms, fraud and money grabbing in the name of investment, the police should create fear of law with their action.
The Chief Minister said that while giving posting to the police personnel in the area, information about their previous tenure must be taken. He said that after the deployment in the area, a system should be prepared to get continuous feedback from the common people, which should be effectively monitored by the Home Department.
Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya said that in criminal cases against mining mafia, drugs and backward classes, police should take more effective action and bring justice to the victim.
Director General of Police ML Lather said that strict action has also been taken against the police personnel when their involvement in several criminal incidents came to the fore. He said that the police have taken proactive action in the Excise Act, Arms Act, all types of mafia and NDPS cases. He said that the percentage of submission of challans against criminals has also increased by doing quick research in various types of crimes.
Home Secretary Abhay Kumar said that the CCTNS system is being further strengthened. At the same time, the police is making more use of information technology in its functioning.
Additional Director General of Police RP Mehrada gave a detailed presentation on the comparative status of various types of crimes and swift action taken by the police.
