Fraud from Rajya Sabha member, case registered

Raipur, Jun 11 (PTI) In Chhattisgarh, an unidentified person allegedly transacted USD 508.92 by misusing a credit card issued in the name of Rajya Sabha member and former minister Ram Vichar Netam. Police have registered a case in this regard.

Police officials of Raipur district said on Friday that a relative of BJP leader Ramvichar Netam has complained to the police that on February 24, 2021, someone misappropriated a credit card issued in Netam’s name to the tune of US $ 508.92 (about Rs 36844). transaction is done.

Police officials said that a case has been registered at Telibandha police station on Netam’s complaint.

He told that according to the complaint, this credit card of State Bank of India issued in the name of Netam was valid till 2020. Netam did not request for renewal of the credit card after it expired. Without Netam’s permission and knowledge, the unidentified person fraudulently got the credit card renewed and transacted US$508.92.

Police officials said the matter came to light when the bank asked Netam to pay Rs 45,668 (including taxes). Initially Netam informed the bank that he had not done any such transaction and the credit card was also not available with him. The validity of the card has expired. When asked continuously for payment by the bank, he went to the bank and inquired about the transaction. Later he complained to the police station.

He said that on Netam’s complaint, the police have registered a case and started investigation.
