Nagpur, Jun 8 (PTI) Former Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Anil Bonde on Tuesday alleged corruption in settlement of crop insurance claims of farmers under the supervision of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and the cancellation of the state’s agreement with crop insurance companies. demanded. Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, the BJP leader alleged that the MVA government has looted farmers and supported insurance companies.

Bonde said, “Out of 128 lakh farmers who bought crop insurance from companies in the 2019 kharif season when Devendra Fadnavis was the chief minister in the state, 85 lakh farmers got Rs 5,795 crore.” Mausam (when the Shiv Sena-led MVA government came to power in November 2019) out of 138 lakh farmers, only 15 lakh farmers bought crop insurance and got Rs 974 crore. Insurance companies have made profit of Rs 4,234 crore by the grace of Uddhav Thackeray government.

Bonde said farmers from Marathwada and Vidarbha regions got the least benefit in terms of crop insurance claims. “The agreement of the Maharashtra government with the insurance companies should be canceled and action should be taken against the erring officials,” he said, demanding the resignation of the state agriculture minister.
