Kuwait City | External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reached Kuwait on Thursday to strengthen bilateral ties. Diplomatic sources said the aim of the visit is to strengthen India’s ties with the oil-rich Gulf nation. The two countries had decided about three months ago to set up a ‘ministerial-level joint commission’ with the aim of creating a framework to strengthen ties in areas such as energy, trade, investment and labor and information technology.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah visited India in March, during which the two sides decided to set up a joint commission. Kuwait has sent relief material and medical oxygen to help India deal with the global pandemic Corona virus. In the last few weeks, Indian Naval ships have gone to India from Kuwait carrying a large quantity of medical oxygen.
