Police said that the owner of this factory was arrested by the Maharashtra Police earlier and on the basis of his interrogation, two days ago, Maharashtra Police raided Meerut and arrested another person.
An official said that on the basis of information received from the Maharashtra Police, Gautam Budh Nagar Police raided the factory located in the industrial area of the police station Ecotech-3 area on Tuesday evening and from here a large quantity of medicines used in the treatment of Kovid-19. Medicines and antibiotics confiscated.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Ankur Aggarwal said that on Tuesday evening, a joint team of Drug Inspector, Gautam Budh Nagar, Police and District Administration raided the factory operating in the police station Ecotech-3 area and found a huge quantity of azithromycin. Favipiravir tablets and antibiotic tablets, which are worth around Rs 50 lakh, were seized.
He said that the drugs recovered from the spot are being sent to the laboratory for testing.
Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the owner of this factory is Sudhir Mukherjee, resident of Ghaziabad, who had set up this factory on rent a month ago.
He told that Mukherjee was caught by the Mumbai Police a few days ago with spurious medicines and during interrogation, the accused told that he buys medicines from ABM Lab Private Limited Company located in Dhirkheda Industrial Area of Kharkhoda police station area and supplies them in the market.
He said that on Sunday, Mumbai Police along with the team of Drugs and Food Department raided ABM Lab Pvt Ltd and arrested the owner of the lab, Sandeep Mishra. Along with this, after taking samples of medicines being made in the factory, it was sealed.
