Chandigarh, Jun 7 (PTI) The Punjab government on Monday announced the extension of the COVID restrictions in the state till June 15. However, the opening of shops has been relaxed and shops have been allowed to open till 6 pm by adopting a graded approach.

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh announced that while the night curfew — Monday to Saturday — would continue from 7 pm to 6 am, the weekend curfew would now be on Sunday.

Earlier, the weekend curfew in the state was on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the official statement, the infection rate in the state has come down to 3.2 percent and the cases under treatment have also come down. It has been said in the statement that only 20 people will be allowed to attend the marriage and funeral in the state.

After the Kovid review meeting, the Chief Minister said that the entry restriction for arrival in the state (Covid negative / vaccination) has also been removed.

The Chief Minister said that following the proper protocol of social distancing and covid, permission has been given for recruitment examinations. Along with this, he said that priority will be given to online examinations.

Permission has also been given for sports training for national and international events and the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs has been asked to issue necessary guidelines, which will have to be strictly followed.

The district administration may decide to open shops of non-essential items on the basis of local situation even on weekends.

Regarding government offices, he said that the head of the concerned office will decide about the attendance, but exemption can be given to employees suffering from other diseases and persons with disabilities who are at high risk.
