Efforts are on to make Yamuna river as uninterrupted and as pure as Ganga: Mahendra Singh

Mathura, Jun 11 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh’s Jal Shakti Minister Dr. Mahendra Singh has said that massive efforts are being made under the ‘Namami Gange’ project to make Yamuna river as uninterrupted and as pure as Ganga.

The minister, who came to Mathura to inspect the work being done in relation to flood control, told reporters that the state government is getting the work done on a large scale to maintain the Yamuna stream throughout the year.

He said that under the Namami Gange project, the government is connecting all the drains falling into Yamuna like Ganga with sewage treatment plants so that it can avoid all kinds of pollution. He said that apart from this, efforts are also being made to keep the Yamuna flowing continuously to keep it water-rich.

Singh said that if work is done on time to save the damage caused due to floods every year, then huge loss of life and property can be saved. He said that this is what this government is doing.

The Minister said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had released a huge amount in January this year itself to get the work done on flood control measures, due to which most of the works related to flood control have been completed and the rest are in the final stage which will start raining. will be completed before

He assured that work is being done on the scheme to save Deoraha Baba Ashram from floods, which will be completed soon. He also gave necessary instructions in this regard to the officers of the Irrigation Department on the spot.
