Dera Sacha Sauda chief discharged from hospital in Gurugram, sent back to Rohtak jail

Chandigarh, Jun 10 (PTI) Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was on Thursday discharged from a private hospital in Gurugram after which he was taken back to Rohtak district jail where he was convicted for raping two of his followers. years imprisonment.

Officials said the Dera Sacha Sauda chief (53) was taken to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Sunday for some medical examination and was taken back to Sunaria jail in Rohtak district on Thursday.

Sunaria jail superintendent Sunil Sangwan told PTI over phone, “Yes, he has been brought back from the hospital.”

Singh was brought back to a jail located in Haryana’s Rohtak district amid heavy police protection.

Earlier, Singh had undergone some tests at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak on Thursday on the complaint of abdominal pain, after which he was taken to a hospital in Gurugram on Sunday.

He was admitted to a government hospital in Rohtak in May on complaints of dizziness and abnormal blood pressure. He was discharged after being kept in the hospital overnight.

Last month, Singh was granted a day’s parole to visit his ailing mother.

Singh is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two female followers in his ‘ashram’. He was convicted in August 2017 by a special CBI court in Panchkula.
