According to a press release issued by the State Public Relations Department, the Chief Minister has said, “The State Government in the budget session of the Vidhan Sabha had announced to vaccinate every person in Chhattisgarh free of cost. The central government made arrangements for free immunization for health workers, frontline workers and people above 45 years of age, but left it to the states when it came to the age group of 18 to 44 years. Even then the Chief Ministers of all the states had demanded free vaccination from the Prime Minister, but he did not listen. Later the states made arrangements for vaccination from their own coffers.”
Baghel said, “The main problem is the supply of vaccines. We received only nine lakh 38 thousand 530 doses in Chhattisgarh from May 1 to June 7. This has been the pace of providing the vaccine. When we are not able to provide vaccine, then how will it be done. He said that the allegations being leveled against the states are wrong.
According to the release, the health department of Chhattisgarh government has so far placed orders for 1.5 crore doses of the vaccine to companies manufacturing Covaccine and Covishield. So far, a total of Rs 47 crore 34 lakh has been paid for 14 lakh 18 thousand 700 doses of vaccine (11 lakh 66 thousand 630 vaccines and two lakh 52 thousand 70 doses of vaccine) in the state.
It has been informed in the release that so far 9 lakh 38 thousand 530 doses have been received for the age group of 18 to 44 years.
According to the release, till June 6, about eight lakh 31 thousand 281 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated in the state.
