Mines and Geology Minister Janak Ram told on Tuesday that in this regard, he has recently written a letter to the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of Gopalganj and Jamui, demanding the strictest punishment to the culprits in this case. He said that another similar case has also come to light in Muzaffarpur district.
In a letter to Jamui District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police on June 4, Ram kidnapped a minor girl of Mahadalit society in Dinnagar village under Chandradeep police station and got married by some people of a particular community after converting to religion and the victim’s father and the accused by the accused. Referring to the death threats to his family, he has asked to take strict legal action against the culprits, so that the victims’ families get justice at the earliest.
In a letter to Gopalganj’s District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police on June 6, Ram mentioned about the abduction of a girl from the Mahadalit community in Khanpatti village under Kuchaykot police station forcibly by a youth belonging to a minority community with the intention of marrying her. Strict legal action should be taken against the culprits so that the victims families get justice at the earliest.
Describing such incidents as shameful and condemnable, he said that atrocities on the brothers and sisters of the Mahadalit family will also strengthen the feeling of insecurity in the society. Such an incident would hurt the thinking and principles of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The minister said that the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led government is committed to providing justice to the common people, the poor, the dalits and the helpless. It is worth mentioning that on June 6, Bihar BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal had also directed the Dalits in the state in the last few days. But alleging that the incidents of atrocities allegedly committed by the minority community have increased significantly, he said that the administration needs to be vigilant everywhere.
