Congress protested against inflation

Raipur, June 5 (PTI) In Chhattisgarh, the ruling party Congress on Saturday staged a sit-in in protest against inflation. During this, State Congress President Mohan Markam joined the protest wearing a garland of mustard oil vial.

State Congress spokesperson Dhananjay Thakur said here on Saturday that on the call of the State Congress against inflation, Congress leaders and workers in the state staged a dharna today.

Thakur said that following the rules of Kovid-19, Congress leaders sat in front of their homes and staged a sit-in against the Modi government and demanded to reduce inflation.

He said that State Congress President Mohan Markam, wearing a garland of mustard oil, staged a dharna in front of his residence, Bastar Bada. During this, Markam said that the BJP government, which came to power by promising to reduce inflation in 100 days, has made life difficult for the people of the country. Petrol-Diesel and LPG are being available at double the price as compared to the Congress regime. The price of food items is increasing continuously.

Markam said that during the Manmohan Singh government, petrol in the country was available for Rs 70 per liter and diesel at Rs 60 per liter and the price of LPG was Rs 400, while the price of crude oil in the international market during the Modi government was more than $ 68 per barrel. Despite this, the people of the country are getting petrol-diesel and cooking gas at twice the cost of purchase rate. Behind this is the wrong policies of the Modi government and profiteering by some of his capitalist friends.

The Congress leader said that the seven-year tenure of the Modi government has been full of disappointments and failures.

Thakur said that Rajya Sabha member Chhaya Verma and other senior Congress leaders were present during this. At the same time, Congress leaders staged dharna in different cities of the state.
