BJP wants to name Navi Mumbai airport after late PWP leader

Alibaug, Jun 10 (PTI) Amid a proposal to name the Navi Mumbai International Airport after Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, the BJP on Thursday named the project after forming a human chain at Alibaug in Raigad district after the late Peasants and Workers Party (PWP). Demanded to be named after leader DB Patil.

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has already passed a resolution to name the project after Bal Thackeray. It is the nodal government agency for this project.

However, the BJP is against the proposal. On Thursday, the BJP formed a human chain to strongly voice its demand. The local unit of BJP formed a human chain in front of the Collectorate in Alibag town of Raigad district. About 200 workers and leaders participated in it.
