The minister said, “Apart from a granddaughter of Kaushalya Devi, no other family member lives together. The woman gets old age pension and public distribution system (PDS) food grains. The old woman has no problem with food. The woman’s hut will be renovated and the lane adjoining it will be paved.”

Nalanda District Magistrate Yogendra Singh has said in a press release that in the report sent by the Sub-Divisional Officer of Hilsa after investigation, it has been said that Kaushalya Devi, wife of late Shivanandan Mahato, has four sons. He said, “His first and eldest son Anil Prasad’s family lives in Delhi and does a private job. Second son Sudhir Kumar has died. Third son Ramdhin Prasad’s family lives in Hilsa and does cycle repair work. Fourth. Son Satish Prasad who died 08-10 years ago and after sometime his wife who is said to be deranged are missing. The couple has a daughter of about 10 years, who lives with old age Kaushalya Devi. Elder son He hasn’t come to the village for the last 15 years and has no contact with the old lady.”
Nalanda District Magistrate said that during the inspection, old woman Kaushalya Devi was found with her granddaughter in a small room made of old karkat adjacent to the toilet. He said that the news about staying in the toilet was not found to be true during the course of investigation. He told that the old lady Kaushalya Devi has been getting ration through the public distribution system and there is no problem of food and drink. Along with this, they also get old age pension.
He told that Ramdhin Prasad, the third son of the old woman, was told that he was very poor and helpless in his feet. He told that he runs a cycle repair shop near Kasturba Vidyalaya in Hilsa. He told that Prasad asked his mother to stay with him but she refused to stay with him. Nalanda District Magistrate said, “During the inspection, the matter of staying in the toilet and eating was found to be completely wrong. Nevertheless, in view of the poverty of the old woman, immediately the block development of Karaiparsurai to renovate the ceiling, wall and floor of the old woman’s hut room. The officer has been directed.”
