The makers of Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Tandav’ were accused of hurting religious sentiments and several FIRs were also registered against it. We were worried about what happened with ‘Tandav’, Verma said. It was a common concern, not just us but every show you are working on. It makes you think that who might feel bad and you have no idea because anyone can feel bad about anything.” He added, “We watched our show, we knew That what we are doing, we didn’t do anything to impress anyone, it was an integral part of the show. But we were also worried about how it would be taken.

Verma made this statement on Thursday night while interacting with the media and fans on ‘MLYX Backstage’, an audio-based social media app. The writer and director said, “We were not writing the story to create controversy. This would be the last thing we would want to do. We wanted the show to release peacefully and the audience should enjoy it.” Even after pushing the release of the series, it could not escape the controversies.

Rajya Sabha MP and MDMK leader Vaiko had also written to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar seeking a stay on its release. He had said that the people of Tamil community are being shown in a negative way in the series. Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) founder Seeman had also demanded a ban on it.
