A few days ago, during the second wave of the corona epidemic, yoga guru Baba Ramdev created a ruckus by making a statement on allopathic medicines. The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) had issued a notice to him and sought his reply. Now Baba has replied that there is no merit in the notice. He has withdrawn his statement. His statement was presented out of context. He questioned the excessive use of only practical treatment.
In his reply, Ramdev said that many medical experts have also expressed concern over the overuse of experimental treatments. Many of these people were dropped from the treatment protocol. He has no ill-will towards allopathy. Baba said that the notice issued to me is completely devoid of merit. It has been issued on the basis of incomplete information. Baba has advised to withdraw the notice.
The statement had to be withdrawn at the behest of the Health Minister
Significantly, after the controversial statement of Ramdev, the IMA had expressed strong protest. After this, Baba had to withdraw his statement at the behest of Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. In a letter to Ramdev, the Health Minister had said that the people of this country are very angry with your remarks against allopathic medicines and doctors. So withdraw your statement immediately.
Many medical unions joined the protest
The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association had called a protest on June 1 in protest against Ramdev’s statements. In this, doctors of many medical associations tied black ribbons participated. The IMA has also sent a legal notice to Ramdev over this remark. The All Rajasthan Serving Physicians Association has also given legal notice to Ramdev and protested the remarks made on the allopathic system of medicine.
