Assam CM approves rehabilitation program for 4036 NDFB members

Guwahati, Jun 7 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday approved a rehabilitation program for 4036 NDFB members during a review of the status of implementation of the Bodoland Provincial Territories (BTR) agreement at an outlay of Rs 160 crore.

The rehabilitation program for NDFB workers will be conceived by the Bodoland Provincial Council (BTC) with the help of the state’s Institute of Panchayats and Rural Development, which will be coordinated by Hiren Nath Sharma, Inspector General, Special Branch, Assam Police.

He said that under this scheme, 4036 members of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) would be given skill development training in different parts of BTR for socio-economic development.

The NDFB is one of the four armed separatist groups that laid down their arms during the signing of the Bodo peace accord in January this year.
