“The accused is deliberately delaying the hearing pending in Gandhinagar as well as Jodhpur through such petitions while he is healthy and is stable,” it said.
The government said that Jodhpur is one of the rare centers where both allopathic and ayurvedic treatment is available. The state government said, “If this court orders, then the treatment of the accused can be done by a committee of doctors of Jodhpur AIIMS and Jodhpur Ayurved Hospital.”
The government said that Asaram was found infected with Kovid-19 on May 6, had mild symptoms and received proper treatment.
On June 4, the Supreme Court had sought a response from the Rajasthan government on Asaram’s plea seeking permission from the court for treatment at an Ayurvedic center near Haridwar.
The Supreme Court had then made an oral observation that it was not inclined to grant interim bail by suspending the sentence of the self-styled godman. Asaram had sought suspension of his sentence for two months, saying he needed “complete” treatment for several ailments at a medical center near Haridwar.
