Another associate of Sushil Kumar arrested in Chhatrasal Stadium case

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested another aide of Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar in connection with the assault at Chhatrasal Stadium. A wrestler was killed and two of his friends were injured in the assault.

New Delhi. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested another aide of Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar in connection with the assault at Chhatrasal Stadium. A wrestler was killed and two of his friends were injured in the assault. A senior police officer said on Friday that accused Anirudh was involved in the alleged assault. He was arrested in the national capital on Thursday. Sushil and his associates had assaulted wrestler Sagar Dhankhar and his two friends Sonu and Amit Kumar on the intervening night of May 4 and 5 over a property dispute.

Dhankhar later died. Sushil was arrested along with co-accused Ajay Kumar from Delhi’s Mundka area on 23 May. Police said that 10 people have been arrested so far in connection with the incident. Two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar faces charges of murder, culpable homicide not amounting to murder and kidnapping.

Police have described Sushil Kumar as the “main accused and kingpin” of the incident and said that there is electronic evidence in which Sushil and his associates were seen beating Dhankhar. A video surfaced on social media in which Sushil and his associates were seen thrashing a man with a stick. The police had canceled Sushil’s arms license on May 31.
