700 crores approved for the construction of two lane tunnel in Mussoorie

Dehradun, Jun 8 (PTI) The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 700 crore for the construction of a 2.74 km long two-lane tunnel between Mall Road to Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative Academy to ease the city’s traffic system in the Queen of Hills, Mussoorie. Approved. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari gave this information through Twitter.

Gadkari tweeted that an amount of Rs 700 crore has been approved for the construction of 2.74 km long tunnel from Mall Road to Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative Academy in Mussoorie on National Highway No. 707A.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat also thanked the Union Minister for this approval by tweeting that the construction of the tunnel will improve the traffic system of Mussoorie city and facilitate the movement. He said that the widening and strengthening of the roads around it would facilitate the general public as well as help in relief and rescue operations in the event of a disaster, he said.

The Chief Minister said that this would further improve the connectivity of Jaunsar Bawar region and would also help in connecting this backward area with the mainstream of development. Chief Minister Rawat, during his visit to Delhi on Monday, had requested Gadkari to sanction funds for the project.
