The Moon’s Shadow on Earth During the Solar Eclipse

There is a dark gray region between the moon and Earth known as the umbra, where our moon completely obscures the Sun, even though it is so much smaller. During solar eclipses, satellites can capture the shadow of the moon passing over the Earth.
